Early 20th-century dark blue crushed morocco by Rivière, spine lettered in gilt with raised bands, elaborate decoration to compartments and framing boards with fine gilt tooling, with onlaid morocco decoration, including brown borders, light blue medallions enclosing gilt-tooled flowers with green leaves and red petals, wide gilt inner dentelles, vellum endpapers, edges gilt. With 99 mounted line illustrations on fine tissue paper, historiated initials, facsimile manuscript dedication, and vignette title page, all after Thomson. Housed in a custom blue cloth slipcase.
Identifying CharacteristicsVellum endpapers cockled, as usual, a little repair to head of joints. A near-fine copy.

Identifying CharacteristicsSpine restored, small chip to rear wrapper bottom corner, general mild soiling to wrappers but presenting nicely, small damp stain to top corner affecting both wrappers and leaves but never touching text, some leaves evenly toned within: very good condition.
